About the 1973 Project
Until every one of us is free, all are not.
Since our inception in 2017, hundreds of individuals and small businesses have volunteered to be the collective voice and face of the American majority in support of safe and legal abortion. This statement requires courage, and we are grateful for every body who has stood with us. Each and every participant in IHWSH events affirmed support for abortion and bodily autonomy. When SB8 and Roe reversal transpired in 2020 and 2021, our organization stepped up with Abortion Support Summer (Happy Hours benefiting abortion support organizations and funds), the Blue Tape Photos (a social media campaign to raise awareness and solidarity), and the 19.73 Project (fundraising for abortion access). We continue the fight for comprehensive reproductive health care access with expansion in services to ensure every pregnant person has access to the full range of choices that a human being with bodily autonomy inherently deserves. For more information on these programs, or how to contribute, email 1973Project@IHWSH.org

Steps to join the movement
Take a selfie with one of the following slogans or catchphrases:
• #86TheAbortionBan
• #LawsOffOurBodies
• #AbortionIsHealthcare
• #BodilyAutonomyForAll
The selfie should be of a part of your body with masking tape with your selected catchphrase written on it with Sharpie. This form of label is ubiquitous to our industry, and we’re using this as a symbol of our common bond. Exposed skin reminds us that the Six Week Ban is ultimately about our bodies, our inborn rights to control what has been stolen away.

Texas SB8, the Six Week Ban, is blatantly unconstitutional, injects the government into personal health care, denies our bodily autonomy, and declares that anyone with a uterus is subject to a different set of rules, rules meant to control us, putting our lives and livelihoods at risk. The Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision affirming nationwide access to safe and legal abortion is a constitutional right.
I’m donating $19.73 to the #1973Project (bit.ly/1973Project) which funds organizations helping Texans get the abortion care they need.I’m calling on all my friends in our industry to stand up with me!
